SUMMER DAY CAMP PROGRAMS At the Chester Family YMCA, we offer several day camp programs on 25 acres of land, including a large pond for canoeing and fishing. Our well-trained staff provide a safe, nurturing atmosphere through leadership and mentoring opportunities in a beautiful, natural environment. Each camper will learn new skills and build new friendships in an atmosphere that fosters the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Camp Redfeather (Half or Full Day) A unique and safe outdoor traditional day camp tailored towards developing a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all children through the implementation of specialized, age-appropriate, and fun day-camp activities such as crafts, boating, songs, fishing, outdoor education, sports, and archery. All campers will receive swim lessons!
Campers will choose two 1-hour specialties each morning and spend the afternoon participating in all kinds of camp fun consisting of cooling off at our indoor pool, large and small group games, and Fun Friday events.

Teen Extreme Non-stop fun and excitement is planned for the Teen Extreme camp through a variety of activities. These activities include archery, swimming, sports, and more. Weekly field trips include kayaking, tubing, hiking, as well as service learning projects in the community. The Teen Extreme staff focus on teamwork and leadership skills in an atmosphere where teens feel safe and valued.

Added Benefits of YMCA Camping: Pre / Post Camp: Before and after care for busy parents. FREE Drop off starting at 7am, pick up until 6pm.
Starry Over-Night: Camp Red Feather, Summer Adventurers, and Teen Extreme camps will host an overnight this summer for campers entering 4th through 8th grades. Overnight (from 7 pm to 9 am) includes swimming, s’mores, stories, and sleeping under the stars. Look for more information about overnights in the day camp newsletter. Date TBA, registered campers only $30 facility members, $40 community members

YMCA CAMP THUNDERBIRD OUTDOOR CENTER For a more rustic camp experience, check out YMCA Camp Thunderbird Outdoor Center. For more than 40 years, YMCA Camp Thunderbird has provided fun and enriching activities in an outdoor environment. Located in Central Chesterfield on the edge of Swift Creek and Pocahontas State Park, YMCA Camp Thunderbird boasts 100 acres of wooded beauty. Our six-acre centerpiece, Lake George, provides a timeless backdrop for the YMCA Camp Thunderbird experience. We provide FREE bus stops throughout the Greater Richmond community offering this truly unique experience to as many children as possible.
